Student Forum's "Rally Foundation" Fundraiser Update
Durham Middle School’s student forum recently held a “Faculty Pie Eating Contest” in an effort to raise money for the Rally Foundation: 4 Quarters 4 Research.
All of the Rally program proceeds raised went solely for childhood cancer research. 4 Quarters 4 Research has been endorsed by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue, the Georgia State Senate, GHSA Executive Director Ralph Swearngin, UGA Head Football Coach Mark Richt, and former NFL Football Coach Sam Wyche.
Thirteen teachers and administrators and student, Kerstie S., participated in the contest. Teacher, Ken Haughey licked his way to pie eating victory in record breaking speed. $80.00 was raised during this event by the students and an additional $250.00 was donated by Northwest Bank, Mr. Jimmy Durham, and The Gerrits Family adding to the money collected from students. Publix donated ingredients for the pudding pies.
Durham’s Principal, Georganne Young, motivates pie eating participants prior to the contest.
