Special Student Services
Special Student Services is a Durham PTSA committee that addresses the needs of diverse learners at Durham Middle School by fostering communication and awareness of special education between the school , parents and children. This committee recognizes and promotes each child's abilities rather than their disabilities.
Special Student Services would like
your help and support in establishing this new area. Some of the programs that
are currently being created are:
A Special Needs blog for the parents
and caregivers of these amazing children to find related informative
information, to ask questions and seek advice from other families, and most
importantly, SUPPORT FOR ONE
ANOTHER!
A “Special Needs” resource library
in the media center for parents and students. We are looking for your
donations of new or gently used books, magazines, cd's or dvd/video's to help us
create this resource area. Please contact Lisa Johnson at ljohnsonlmhj@msn.com or 770-590-0524 about
your donation.
“Special Mornings Out” – This is a once a month gathering where you will meet with other parents or caregivers of children with disabilities and share your stories and triumphs.
